New album “slowly then all at once” available wherever you stream

Wild Coast is Jon William Johnson’s solo indie folk thing. It started with a drum track sent during lockdown and snowballed into an album five years later—because apparently that’s how long it takes to process your feelings when you record in a garage with bad insulation.

The new record slowly then all at once (out now via giveortake records) features contributions from Dan Bailey (Father John Misty) and bassist Terry Mattson (Fences, Cataldo, Hey Marseille), with lots of late-night tracking, Dropbox uploads, and whispered vocals so the neighbors wouldn’t complain. It’s folk-adjacent, Americana-ish, and very much about that feeling when something beautiful unravels.

Also yes, there’s a few synths. We checked. It’s legal.
